How do we create an environment?
How does an offbeat, student empowering school become a garbage can? Often considered a haven for non traditional high school students, SLA as a whole seems to try to keep the culture of the school as reflective of it student body as possible. Versatile, diverse. lively and vibrant. However, the halls are coated in trash. The walls are covered in holes, stains, and unseenly graffiti. Bathroom stalls are ripped off of their hinges, sinks are clogged, and tables are covered in lunches leftover from last week.
Who's to blame? Is it the school district’s fault for budget cuts? The school's fault for only employing one daytime janitor? Or is it the students' fault? Students at SLA are well aware of budget cuts and how little money goes to our humble establishment. So why make it worse? Why continue to create mess after mess as if a maid is following them and cleaning everything in their wake? Simple. A large quantity of SLA students do not care.
This website will attempt to explore the effects the environment have on students, their learning capabilities, and their overall opinions on SLA.
